MUSICDAYS VIANDEN 2025 – Calmus Ensemble Leipzig
MusicDays Vianden 2025
02.11. – 09.11.2025
Château, Ancien Cinéma, Église des Trinitaires
6th edition
For the sixth time, the MusicDays are transforming the town of Vianden into a stage for musical discovery. The festival opens with the Calmus Ensemble Leipzig and Maurice Clement (organ) at the Trinitarian Church, presenting a program that spans from the Renaissance to Romantic and contemporary vocal music.
At the castle, the concert “Der Ruf des Horns” features works by Mozart, Brahms, Reuter, and Kurtág, where the horn serves as a sonic thread connecting different musical eras.
The Anaphora Trio takes over the Ancien Cinéma with an evening of jazz that blends techno-inspired rhythms, improvisation, and non-European influences.
For children and families, “Coppélia – Eng ongewéinlech Popp” tells a whimsical story through music and dance, full of imagination.
The closing concert brings together Mozart’s intimate Clarinet Quintet and Strauss’s sharp-edged suite “Le Bourgeois gentilhomme” – a final encounter of sonic finesse and stylistic sophistication.
Old and new, poetry and play come into dialogue – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Sunday 2/11 | 17:00 | Eglise des Trinitaires | Calmus Ensemble Leipzig
For this exceptional concert, Kammerata Luxembourg welcomes the renowned Calmus Ensemble from Leipzig – a vocal quintet that has captivated audiences for over 25 years with its precise tone, stylistic diversity, and profound musical expression. Together with Maurice Clement, Kammerata’s organist, a true musical dialogue unfolds: between voices and the breath of the organ, between the Renaissance and contemporary creation, between formal rigor and sonic freedom.
The evening revolves around the four elements – water, earth, air, and fire – symbols of both the forces of nature and inner states of being. The cycle Les éléments de l’être, composed especially for Calmus by Harald Banter, finds its counterpart in the Duetti by Johann Sebastian Bach – refined organ pieces brought to life by Maurice Clement as mirror-like responses. Between these poles, spaces open up for improvisation, folk songs reimagined by Brahms, and vocal works from the Renaissance by William Byrd.
The result is a contemplative and intense musical dialogue – about the power of nature, the beauty of the voice… and what unfolds in the silences between the sounds.
