Concert on 25 February 2024 at 4.00 pm

The Ensemble Vocal CANTICA was founded in 1988 by Mr Jean-Paul Majerus and today consists of around thirty singers, most of whom come from the north of the country.

CANTICA’s repertoire includes both religious and secular works by composers ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary classical music.

Over the past 35 years, the singers of CANTICA have had the opportunity to perform at the Festival de Wiltz, as well as at concerts during the Schubertiade and the Klenge Maarnicher Festival.

Various co-productions have also been organised with other renowned choirs from Luxembourg. The members of CANTICA were thus able to take part in major works such as the “War Requiem” by Benjamin Britten or the oratorio “Elijah” by Felix Mendelssohn.

Since 2008, CANTICA has regularly given concerts with orchestra, including the ‘Messiah’ by GF Handel in 2009, the ‘St John Passion’ (J.S. Bach) in 2013 and Mozart’s Requiem in 2014, the latter under the direction of Pierre Cao.

In 2023, the Liebeslieder waltzes by Johannes Brahms were performed in Diekirch, and this concert will be repeated in Vianden on 25/2/2024.
