VEINER MUSIK
Spring Concert on March 29, 2026 at 5:00 PM, Vic. Abens Hall
Founded in 1848 and thus one of the oldest music societies in Luxembourg, the Veiner Musik looks back on a long tradition as a musical ambassador of a town in which music and musicians have always played an important role.
For nearly 175 years, the Veiner Musik has been responsible for providing the musical accompaniment for all secular and religious celebrations.
The instrumental premiere of the national anthem in the presence of Michel Lentz and Antoine Zinnen in 1865, the serenade for Victor Hugo in 1871, the musical accompaniment of state visits by the Queen of England and the Queen of the Netherlands, as well as the christening of an aircraft named “Château de Vianden,” are just a few examples of the historic performances that have marked the society’s history. In addition, processions, large and small concerts, anniversary celebrations, competitions, and many other events have always been an integral part of the annual program.
Highly dedicated presidents and conductors have, generation after generation, succeeded in inspiring the musicians of the Veiner Musik—seemingly musicians by nature—to contribute their talent to the society with great enthusiasm and commitment.
Today, around 40 musicians perform under the direction of conductor Marcel Richards and are delighted to present their spring concert to you in the magnificent setting of the castle.
